Silicone vs. Saline Breast Implants

Greetings,

For the last few years we have had access to silicone gel breast implants in Canada. They feel more natural, have the consistency of "normal" breast tissue vs. saline implants that may show more rippling on the edges and feel like a "bag of water". The new implants have "cohesive" gel meaning that the gel itself has the consistency, more of a "gummy bear" as compared to older gel implants that were more liquid. This means that if the implant was to break, the gel would not leak out as a liquid. If a saline implant was to break, the liquid saline would leak out and get absorbed by the body resulting in a "flat tire" appearance of the breast. One of the most valuable things I received was the assuarance that the staff was available if I was ever concerned with anything before and after surgery. After surgery I experienced a lot of bruising. Dr. Kara and his staff were very informative, knowledgeable and helpful in helping me cope with the bruising. All experiences I've had, before surgery and after, has been excellent. Very detailed when explaining the procedure. Everyone is very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable with the procedure.

My experience with Dr. Kara and his staff has been wonderful from the start to finish. They made me feel comfortable and at ease from the start. Answered all my questions and my recovery time was only 5 days. At only 4 weeks, I looked and felt my best!
After the surgery I was in much less pain than I thought I would be. My bruising and most of my swelling was already gone. It has increased my confidence and I get compliments all the time. Some comments are, "I didn't know you had blue eyes!" "You look so refreshed, were you away?" It is such a subtle change and I feel great.

I felt the care I received, before and after surgery, was wonderful. I have some concerns with the scar and dimpling/puckering. However, I am happy overall with the look. It is so nice to know that I don't have to work so hard to "hold-in" my abdomen or wear support underwear to flatten what my 250 pilates sit ups (5 times a week) couldn't do for my post ceasarean belly.

I am very happy with everything, except one crease which I'm told will go away in time. Everything was fully explained to me before the surgery and the office staff has been very helpful all the way through. Surgery started at scheduled time and no waiting was involved.

I've researched different skin care products and their ingredients and think that the Obagi Line available in Dr. Kara's office must be one of the best. Until now, I didn't realize that we do need good quality products and protection from the sun. Especially with different skin types!
I have spent money over the years on products that are suppose to do wonders. I along with other women only to find that they don't work. Dr. Kara gave me what no cream could do and now I have to take proper care of it.
